Introduced to by Ben
Over the years I've been introduced to some really good music thanks to Ben. I've seen Piers Faccini open for Ben three times and his voice/music haunts me every time. His albums are amazing (favourite song is still Each Wave That Breaks) and I got to hang out with him in Paris and Bourges as well... he's a real standup guy.
Tom Freund is another one that Ben brought to my attention. Next, I'm looking forward to hearing what Grace Woodroofe has to offer. Ben and R7 can't say enough good things about her.
Who else has Ben introduced you to that I should check out???

It's funny, I agree with everything you've said, and it just so happens each wave is one of my favourite songs of all time as well! I think more than introducing me to new musicians though, bens music has encouraged me to seek out some of the older stuff that influenced him and that comes through in his work. And those roots run deep, very very deep!
Also looking forward to Grace's album, the single is fantastic!

That's a good point! I started listening to guys like Taj Mahal and Solomon Burke because I knew of their influence/inspiration on Ben.

I agree with both of you. I've been into Bens music since 'Welcome to the Cruel World' was released, and over the years Ben has expanded my musical taste a lot. I really love Piers Faccini and Tom Freund too. They're both among my favorites. But also Jack Johnson, The Blind Boys Of Alabama, Charlie Musselwhite, David Lindley, Toots and the Maytals, John Butler Trio, Xavier Rudd, Ziggy Marley, Gov't Mule, Willie Nelson....... The list is long. All artists that Ben "introduced" me to.

new artists?
Hey guys, thanks for the new forum.
Like all of you, I miss the benharper.net forum ... it's where I learned a lot about up-and-coming artists with similar styles ...
Back again looking for more of the same. Any recommendations on some acoustic/modern blues/rock/folk bands on tour I might be able to catch in Cleveland?
Can't afford to see Pearl Jam or Dave or J. Johnson or Phish this year ... but I'd love to catch a new artist for less than $20.
Any recommendations? E-mail me ...

I'm not sure if he's broken into the USA yet, but check out Daniel Wesley from Canada, and also Joel Plaskett.

I don't think he heads across the ocean all that often but check out an Australian guy called Will Conner, caught him last month and he was pretty good, just nice laid back songs, like one of your friends who mucks around writing a few songs every now and then, but its good fun. Had a chat with him too, really nice guy. Check him out on iTunes anyway.

Ringside
Just found out about this guy. Apparently he opened for Ben in Australia and now he's releasing a new album called Lost Days. The title track features Ben. Album comes out in January 2011.
